Morocco will have their work cut out for them if they are to qualify for the second round of the 2022 World Cup (November 20 to December 18). Placed in a tough Group F along with runners-up Croatia, 2018 third-place finisher Belgium, and Canada, the Atlas Lions are nevertheless aiming to beat the odds.
Their keeper, Yassine Bounou, was confident at the microphone of BeInSport. "If we were not confident of qualifying, we would not come to Qatar," said the Sevilla keeper. "We will strive to achieve something great in this World Cup," added the Atlas Lions' last bastion, stressing that the atmosphere within the group is good.
"Football is 90 minutes and everything is possible. We will give everything so that things are in our favor, promised Bounou. There are great qualities and a lot of talent in the Moroccan national team. The first game will be decisive and we will try to achieve a performance that will get us a positive result."
Morocco will face Croatia on Nov. 23 before challenging Belgium four days later and take on Canada on Dec. 1.
