MATCHS DU JOUR 10
Unlike the English press that already sees England in the quarterfinals, Gareth Southgate plays the card of caution against Senegal.
The English technician even fears the Senegalese selection. "They impressed us a lot. We know that they are African champions, that they are very proud, with a great state of mind and a great confidence in them. They have excellent individualities that can cause problems (to the opponent) and they play in a very structured team. (Aliou) Cissé did a great job," he said in a press conference. He added: "They were unlucky not to qualify for the round of 16 in Russia, this time they did it and they deserve it. We know how difficult the job is ahead of us."
Southgate does not want to go through a potential penalty shootout to qualify. He says: "We'd like to win this game without extra time and penalties if possible, because we'd like to win it in 90 minutes. But if we have to play 120 minutes, we have to be mentally and physically ready to do it. And I think we are. Lions of Teranga and Three Lions will meet this Sunday, December 4 at 7 pm
