2017 Cameroon Elite One champions Eding Sport of Lekie have been the first team to do away with their coach this season, barely two games into the season.
The 2018 Cup of Cameroon winners have been in the headlines more for their new signings, but results have not followed.
After two defeats in their opening two games to AS Fortuna and Bamboutos of Mbouda respectively, the management of the club has decided to bring in a new coach.
The club announced the sacking of Francois Heya, replacing him with Stephane Ndzana Ngono, this Monday March 15th 2021 on the wake of their home defeat to Bamboutos.
Stephane Ndzana comes with a wealth of experience. The former coach of Canon and Tonnerre of Yaoundé is the current coach of Cameroon’s U-17 Women’s national team.
He returns to a club he knows very well, haven previously served as the Technical Director of their Women’s team.
He has been handed the job till the end of the season.
Eding Sport have also brought in experienced Cameroon coach Bonaventure Djonkep in the role of Technical Director.
Djonkep returns to the club in a role he has previously occupied.
He was their Technical Director when they lifted their first and only league title in 2017 under coach Anicet Mbarga Foe.
Djonkep has won league titles with Fovu of Baham, Coton Sport of Garoua and Union Sportive of Douala.
Eding Sports gained promotion into Cameroon’s top flight in 2015. President Saint Fabien Mvogo has not hidden his ambition to make the club one of the best in the country.
Last season they struggled in the league, which is something they will like to avoid this season.
They will be hoping that Stephane Ndzana and Djonkep can turn their season around, as they seek to push for the ultimate accolade.
