Since his appointment as the head coach of the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon, Antonio Conceiçao has not been able to have one of Cameroon's most prolific strikers in the person of Jean-Piere Nsame. The portugese coach has called up the Swiss top scorer on three different ocassions but the player never showed up. When it's not an injury, it's a personal issue. In a recent interview with Goal.com, Jean-Pierre Nsamé finally revealed the actual reason for his drawback.
"Cameroon has been calling me for a year now, but I can't go," he said. The reason is simple: my daughter lives in France and has gone back to school. She also needs her daddy to help her in this new age. So I talked to the coach to explain to him why I didn't come. These Fifa windows are the only time I could see my daughter. I told them, "I am a family man first before being a soccer player. I can win all the trophies in the world, but if my daughter hates me or is unhappy, I haven't won anything"".
Currently top scorer in the Swiss championship (11 goals in 16 games), Nsamé's name could definitively be sidelined by Antonio Conceiçao who had already mentioned this possibility last October. '' I'm going to try to explore new horizons," said the coach, "because in this striker's position, there are a lot of solutions. It's up to me to see how I can exploit them.
