Kenya’s head coach Jacob Mulee has named a provisional squad of 36-players to start preparations ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
The Harambee Stars will start their Group E campaign with a home game against arch-rivals Uganda Cranes on September 2, after which they will travel to face Rwanda.
“This is a strong group of players, we have a superb blend of experience, youth, ability, and personalities. This is a group of players who have what it takes to start well against Uganda and go all the way,” said head coach Mulee.
Although the technical bench has not called former Tottenham’s defensive midfielder Victor Wanyama, skipper Michael Olunga and Swedish based defender Joseph Okumu have been included.
According to Football Kenya Federation (FKF), the local-based players are expected to report to camp on August 24, 2021, while the foreign-based players will start arriving on August 30, 2021.
Besides the CECAFA teams Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda, Group E also has Mali.
