CAF Cup: JS Kabylie takes a good option to the final

A third victory in the same competition, same season for Jeunesse Sportive de Kabylie (JSK) against Coton Sport of Garoua. The Algerian club beat Coton Sport of Garoua in both their meetings (1-0 and 1-2) in the group stage of the CAF Cup, and continued their winning momentum against their Cameroonian opponents on Sunday 20 June. In the first leg of the semi-final in Yaounde, the Canaris won (1-2) against the Cameroonian side in Yaounde.

Araina led the way
The Algerians were the favorites in this match and dominated the proceedings from the start. The visitors settled in midfield and alternated between short and long play. Despite their technical ease, Dénis Lavagne's men were unable to get a foothold in Narcisse Nlend's box. It was not until the 21st minute that the first real chance of the game came: a shot from Mohamed Benchaira that went straight into the air.

The Cameroonians were dominated in the game, but did not let themselves be impressed. The succession of dribbles from Tombi Alémi was enough to push the visitors to the foul. A foul on the edge of the box by Bencherifa provided a scoring opportunity for the home side. Sanou Sibiri's free-kick was then met by Lambert Araina, who headed the ball home (1-0, 28th). The 22-year-old striker scored his seventh goal of the competition.

The Algerians were trailing, but not down, and went back on the attack which later paid off. Malik Raiah's goal was disallowed for an offside position (38th), but Ahmed Kerroum was more fortunate (1-1, 45th + 3).

.Etame then gave JSK a gift
The pace of the match remained intense after the break. Coton Sport  was more enterprising offensively. The home side came close to regaining the lead, but Felix Oukine's shot hit the foot of an opponent's defender at the last minute (49th).

Bedr Eddine then responded, but unfortunately for his team his shot, although brilliant, was not on target (55th). Ahmed Ait also tried, without much more success (59th). The Cameroonian defense was under enormous pressure and finally cracked: Aurelien Etame came to the rescue of his goalkeeper, countering a cross from Mohamed Benchaira and sending the ball into his own net (1-2, 62'). Lambert Araina then thought he had equalized, but his goal was not validated. In the stands, the crowd shouted at the injustice. The ball seemed to have crossed Oussama Benbot's goal line (70th).

The visitors continued to create chances despite the angry cries of the Cameroonian public. Mohamed Benchaira's shot was brilliantly saved by Nlend (75th). Mohamed Bencherifa found the post of the Cameroonian keeper (83rd). Cameroon's vice-champions are condemned to a feat on June 27 in Algiers, during the second leg.

In the other semi-final first leg, Wydad Casablanca drew (0-0) away to Pyramids FC of Egypt.
