Tension is mounting between Seidou Mbombo Njoya and Didier Banlock. The president of the Cameroon Football Federation (Fécafoot) and the general secretary of the body no longer see eyeball to eyeball. The relationship between the two men has become tense in recent days. "The crisis is real and in the coming days, we can no longer hide it," said a source at the secretariat of Fecafoot. According to our interlocutor, the dismissal of the secretary general is only a matter of days, or even hours.
The subject was discussed at a meeting of the Executive Committee held on Friday, August 6 at the headquarters of the body in Yaounde, we learn. But the decision could not be ratified because of a formal defect. "Given the fact that the said meeting was not convened by the SG as should have been the case. As a result, the meeting lost its official character," explained a source close to the Cameroonian football boss.
Samuel Eto'o in the election mix
It is the first time that the Cameroonian Football Association (Fécafoot) has been involved in a meeting with Samuel Eto'o. The president of Fécafoot is looking forward to another term (the previous one was cancelled halfway through, editor's note). But he no longer has the support of his secretary general in this project. While tongues are wagging that the reason for this crisis would be related to the fact that the SG would have openly displayed his support for Samuel Eto'o, that some media present as a future candidate for the presidency of Fécafoot.
The crisis has nothing to do with Samuel Eto'o," he said. The three men know each other perfectly, even if Mr. Banlock seems closer to Samuel than to his president at Fécafoot. It was learned that the latter would have decided to do everything to ensure that his boss is not re-elected. This is the real problem. The president has simply understood that he can no longer rely on his most precious collaborator and he can't get rid of him without suffering reprisals. Hence the current crisis.
The general secretary cramped
The president of Fécafoot would have decided to put his secretary general in a tight spot. Didier Banlock is no longer associated with the official outings of Seidou Mbombo Njoya. The boss of the administration of Fecafoot was absent at the meeting of the Executive Committee on Friday. The same goes for the visit of the Technical Centre under construction, which followed the meeting. The latter was also crossed out of the list of personalities expected at the General Assembly which opened this Saturday, August 7, 2021 at the Hotel Mont Febe in Yaounde. "He will be progressively cramped until he decides to leave, failing which he will be dismissed by a decision of the General Assembly," we learn. The rest of the story promises sparks.
