Raja has just concluded a week that started off on a very bad note. The Moroccan side made the headlines for the wrong reasons when the team did not fully train for two days owing to a strike action from players demanding unpaid bonuses and salaries.
José Mourinho's Roma were merciless against Raja Casablanca in a friendly at the Stadio Olimpico on Saturday 14 August. Five goals to nil was the score line inflicted by the Special One's men on the Moroccans.
This malaise had followed the team on their travels as they were in the Italian Capital Rome, to take on local side AS Roma. Very feverish in this match, the Moroccans did not take long to concede a goal in the 17th minute of play. The match then turned into a nightmare for the visitors. Three minutes later (20th), the hosts added to their tally with a second goal scored by Gianluca Mancini.

The frustration continued after the break. Halt time talk seemingly was hard to digest. The Moroccans, besieged in their own half were once again punished: 3-0 after just 48 minutes. The Italians even put in a final burst of speed in the final minutes of play to make it 5-0 (85th and 89th).

An unsettled Raja of Casablanca left the pitch in more disbelief.
The players of Raja Casablanca will however have to recover quickly from this defeat. A crucial match awaits them on Saturday 21 August: the final of the Mohammed VI Cup of Champions Clubs against Ittihad of Jeddah. This time, they will not have the right to make mistakes against a more familiar opponent.
A great win for Jose Mourinho's Roma who are set to kick off the new Serie A season in a grand style under the Special One.
