Ghana Premier League champions, Hearts of Oak, are set to face Guinean side Club Industriel de Kamsar in the preliminary round of the CAF Champions League.
This was decided by a draw held in Cairo today where the Ghanaian side was drawn with the Guinean giants.
Hearts of Oak will be hosted by the Guineans for the first leg of the tie from September 10th-12th in Conakry while the second leg will be held in Accra from 17th to 19th September.
This will be Phobians’ latest appearance in the continental showpiece since they were eliminated by Tunisian giants Espérance Sportive de Tunis in 2015.
The team that emerges winner of this tie will face Wydad Athletic Club of Morocco in the first round in October.
Accra Hearts of Oak have been crowned champions of the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League.
The team battled with Liberty professionals at the Accra Stadium to end the title drought that had characterized the team for so many years.
Accra Hearts of Oak sat at the top of the table with 61 points, which is the most they have gained so far in the last 12 years.
For winning both the league and FA Cup, the champions had secured their place in next season’s CAF Champions League.
The Premier League champions will be the only club from Ghana to participate in CAF’s continental competitions after rivals Asante Kotoko and Medeama turned down the opportunity to participate in the CAF Confederations Cup.
