Ghana premier league match day one wrap up : Aduana Stars stuns Hearts of Oak as Kotoku Royals secures historic victory over Accra Lions

The 2022/2023 Ghana’s elite league, known as the betPawa premier league season has begun with a lot of actions after match day one across all league centers.

Accra Great Olympics opened the new season with a victory over Bechem United at the Accra sports stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Samuel Ashie Quaye's strike in the second half was enough for Yaw Preko's side to record their first victory of the season.

Former Black Stars and Udinese midfielder Emmanuel Agyemang Badu made his debut for the dade boys as he lasted 80th minute on the field.

Aduana Stars begun the new season with a hard-fought  victory over Accra Hearts of Oak at the Nana Agyemang Badu Park on Sunday.

The Phobians despite dominating the early stages of the game, failed to make their  chances count as the ogya boys overcame them with a lone goal courtesy Bright Adjei.

The entire Nana Agyemang Badu park rose just four minutes into the second half as Bright Adjei broke the deadlock of the game.

Adjei connected beautifully from close range following bad defending by the Phobians.

Later in the game, Caleb Amankwah was sent off as the visiting team ended with 10-men.

Hearts of Oak SC will face City rivals Accra Great Olympics FC in the next round of matches in the Ghana Premier League whiles Aduana Stars travel to face King Faisal in Kumasi.

At the Cape Coast Sports Stadium, debutants Kotoku Royals recorded a historic slim 1-0 victory over Accra Lions through an early strike from forward Augustine Boakye to make it their first victory in their debut season.

At the El-Wak Sports Stadium in Accra, visitors Medeama SC tamed 9-men Legon Cities by a lone goal through Kofi Asmah.

The Yellow and Mauves came close again to extending their lead but Kwesi Donsu's effort was denied by the Royal's goalkeeper.

Michael Otu and Michael Ampadu were sent off by referee Charles Bulu.

Elsewhere at the Tamale Sports stadium, Real Tamale United failed to record a victory as they were held to a 0-0 goalless draw by newbies Samartex 1996.

Skipper David Abagna failed to grab the maximum three points for the Tamale based club as he missed a spot kick for RTU in the second half.

At the Crosby Awuah Memorial Park in Anyinase, Karela United stunned newbies, Tamale City by 1-0 victory.

Samuel Atta Kusi goal in the 54th minute was enough to win the day for Kobby Mensah's side.

At the Dun’s Park in Bibiani, visitors Dreams FC shocked Gold Stars with a lone goal. Dana Blessing's 56th minute strike was enough to seal all three points for coach Ignatius Osei Fosu and his men.

On Monday, Berekum Chelsea defeated Kumasi King Faisal at the Nana AgyemangBadu park by 2:0.

The Bibiries took an early lead with a beautiful strike from Afriyie Mezack in the 11th minute of the game.

Berekum Chelsea killed the game in the 57th minute when Awuah Dramani netted the second goal for the side to make sure they recorded their first victory of the season.

Newbies  Nsoatreman’s clash with reigning champions Asante Kotoko has been postponed due to Kotoko’s CAF Champions League campaign.
