Ghana Black Stars coach names squad for Ethiopia & South Africa World Cup qualifiers

Head coach of the Black Stars of Ghana, CK Akonnor has named a 30-man provisional squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers in September this year. The team is scheduled to face their Group G opponents early next month.

Ghana will take on the Walias of Ethiopia at the Cape Coast stadium on Friday, September 3, before playing South Africa on Monday, September 6, 2021, in Johannesburg.

Coach CK Akonnor has invited the players to begin camping ahead of the games. Known faces such as; Joseph Aidoo of Celta Vigo, John Boye, Kassim Nuhu, and Nicholas Opoku are all missing from the list whilst Columbus Crew captain Jonathan Mensah makes Black Stars return after 25 months absence.

Hearts of Oak forward Daniel Afriyie, Belgium-based goalkeeper Manaf Nurudeen and Stum Gruz attacker Kelvin Yeboah have all earned debut call-ups

Arsenal midfielder, Thomas Partey has also been handed an invitation despite Arsenal announcing that he willfully recuperate at the end of August this year.
