South Sudan’s national team, Bright Star’s head coach Ashu Cyprian Besong has said he is impressed with the positive and right path the team is taking.
“We are moving in the right path because there is now a very big difference from the time when I took over more than a year ago,” added Besong in an interview.
Besong who is preparing the Bright Star ahead of two Total CAF Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifying ties against Burkina Faso and Malawi said he is very proud of where the team is at presence.
“I am happy the Federation continues to put in a lot in order to see that the national team gets better. We have had all players we want facilitated to join the team from their respective teams around the world. The morale and motivation to play for the national team is high and this is brining good competition,” added the coach.
Besong said although he is happy with the strides they are making, they still have a lot to do before the Bright Star can be able to compete comfortably against bigger African football playing nations.
The Bright Star of South Sudan are currently bottom in Group B of the Afcon qualifiers with their only win coming against the best ranked team in the Council of East and Central Africa Football Associations (Cecafa) Zone Uganda.
Francis Amin Micheal, President of the South Sudan Football Association (SSFA) says they still have a lot of things to do interms of development.
“We have just got an artificial playing ground and the national stadium will soon be complete for us to be able to have a good facility. We know there is a lot of work to be done. and we are determined to take South Sudan to the higher levels,” added Amin.
