WAFU B Champions League Qualifiers: Head coach of Ampem Darkoa Ladies speaks after famous victory

Ampem Darkoa Ladies beat USFA

Head coach of Ampem Darkoa Ladies, Joe Nana Adarkwa has opened up on their famous victory over Burkina Faso side, Union Sportive des Forces (USFA) Armees in the Group B opener on Sunday afternoon.

Speaking to the press after the game, coach Adarkwa congratulated his team for the victory  over their Burkinabe counterparts despite going through  struggles to get to Cote d'Ivoire.

"I really want to congratulate my girls for this victory.
We went through a lot of stress just to get to Yamoussoukro. We did our last training in Prampram and we couldn't train again before this game", Coach Adarkwa told reporters.

"We were tactically disciplined in this encounter. We knew the Burkinabes  were stronger and we had to devise a strategy to overcome them."

"I'm very impressed with our performance today, we now need to focus on our next game against the Nigerians. We are focused on winning our next game and that's exactly what we should do since we want to qualify for the ultimate championship", he added.

Three goals from Elizabeth Owusuaa, Mavis Owusu and an own goal was enough for the Nanamma as they keep their hopes of securing a ticket to the second edition of the CAF Women's Champions League.

Ampem Darkoa will battle out with Bayelsa Queens of Nigeria in their second Group B game on Wednesday.

Ampem Darkoa Ladies FC are the second team to represent Ghana at this level with Hasaacas Ladies competing in the maiden edition last year.
The reigning Ghana Women Premier league champions are competing in Group B along side Union Sportive des forces Armees (Burkina Faso), Athleta FC(Togo) and Bayelsa Queens (Nigeria).
