Morocco's coach Vahid Halilhodzic unveiled on Thursday a list of 26 players for the friendly matches scheduled in June in Rabat against Ghana and Burkina Faso.
Morocco will play a friendly against Ghana and Burkina Faso, respectively, on June 8 and 12. The national coach has published a list of 26 players for these two matches scheduled at the Prince Moulay Abdellah sports complex in Rabat.
Vahid Halilhodzic will be able to count on the main protagonists of the last games of the Atlas Lions. The regulars are all present: Sevilla goalkeeper Yassine Bounou, Nayef Aguerd from Rennes, Wolve's Romain Saiss, Chelsea's Champions League finalist Hakim Zyech, and the thundering Achraf Hakimi, Italian champion with Inter Milan.
In addition, Samy Mmae, who was overlooked in the last round-up, is back in the squad, while Adam Massina (Watford) has been given another call-up after some solid performances on the left wing.
Vahid Halilhodzic has left out Noussair Mazraoui. A choice that he assumes. Just like that of calling up Ayoub El Amloud whose presence on the Morocco list is seen as the surprise.
In the Moroccan squad, we note the presence of Ilias Chair, who has accepted to wear the Atlas Lions jersey. The Queens Park Rangers player was hesitating between Morocco and Belgium. The 23-year-old midfielder, who has played for the Atlas Cubs U20s and the Olympic team, has finally chosen continuity. In the Championship, he has played 25 games this season, scoring three goals and providing two assists.
Yahya Jabrane, the Wydad regulator, is also on the list. Unlike Olympiacos' Youssef Al Arabi, who was omitted despite his status as the best striker in the Greek league. In making this choice, the coach seems to rely on the trio Youssef En-Nesyri, Hakim Ziyech and Zakaria Abouhlal.
Another lesson from Halilhodzic's list is that despite little playing time with Andalusia, Munir El Haddadi is keeping his place.
The national league players, Soufiane Rahimi (Raja), Ayoub El Kaabi (Wydad) and Zamalek's Achraf Bencharki, will also be in the squad. Imran Louza of Nantes and PSV Eindhoven striker Mohamed Ihattaren were announced as starters for Morocco's next two friendly matches but were not selected.
