The Cameroonians were not as brilliant as they were against Kenya (40-16). Cameroon even flirted with doubt. When, after leading 14-9, they then conceded 4 goals without scoring any (14-13 at the break). But in the end, the Indomitable Lionesses defeated Nigeria (31-19) on Thursday.
Cameroon qualifies for the quarterfinals thanks to this victory. Vanessa Djiepmou and her teammates have always reached this level of the competition since the 2010 edition. However, the task was not easy. After a tight first half and numerous misses by Clarisse Madjoufang, the host country galvanized support and intent in the second half. Slowly, Cameroon increased their lead to 25-16. The Nigerians spent 10 minutes without finding the breakthrough during this half. They finally gave up all hope of victory as they lost their second match in the on going competition.
Dorathy Nyagh and her team have 0 points just like Kenya after two games. The two teams will face each other on Saturday for one of the tickets reserved for the two best third nations. While Cameroon and DRC, also qualified, will fight for the first place in group B.
