Kessié and Milan miss out on scudetto

AC Milan sinks to a 3-0 defeat at Lazio in Rome on the final day of the 33rdround of the Serie A season. The Red and Black have lost all hope of becoming the first Milanese club to win a 19th scudetto.

Lazio have drowned AC Milan's (66 pts) last hopes of catching their neighbors Inter Milan (79 pts). Franck Kessié and his team-mates were completely overwhelmed in Rome (3-0). They were punished in particular by the Argentinian Corréa, who scored twice (2nd and 61st). In the meantime, they are now in fifth place, on the same points as third-placed Napoli and fourth-placed Juventus. With five games remaining, Inter Milan (79 pts) are closer than ever to their 19th league title. The Inter side are 11 points clear of Atalanta (2nd, 68pts). They would leave their neighbors with 18 titles.

Milan finish badly

AC Milan started the season in the best possible way, leading the way for most of the first half of the season. The Rossoneri only recorded their first defeat on matchday 16 against Juventus (1-3). Milan's goal now is a return to the Champions League eight years after their last appearance. However, it is not a foregone conclusion. The Milanese are not in a very good position, having lost three of their last seven games. The team will need to be active and keen during the summer transfer window as Ivorian midfielder Frank Kessie and even striker Ibrahimovic could be playing their final seasons with AC Milan.
