La Liga Racism: Diakhaby charges while Cala claims innocence

The confusion is fresh. Mouctar Diakhaby has taken to the stage on Tuesday to clarify his altercation with Juan Cala. The Senegalese-born defender accused the Cadiz man of calling him a "black piece of shit". The Andalusian defender denies this while investigations are underway.

48 hours after the alleged racist incident between Mouctar Diakhaby and Juan Cala. And it will now be word against word until the end of La Liga's investigation. The French defender came out of his silence on Tuesday to give more details of the reasons for his outburst on Sunday. And the words the Cadiz defender is said to have uttered are more than shocking. "He told me 'black shit'," said the former Olympique Lyonnais player.

Mouctar Diakhaté and Valencia are still struggling to come to terms with these remarks. "It's intolerable, I can't support that. This should not exist, even more so in football. With my team-mates, we decided to go back to the dressing room, which was a good decision. Those words hurt me. I hope that La Liga will act and sanction the player. I hope that La Liga will act and sanction the player," continued the French U-21 international. Juan Cala will have to convince La Liga and the Spanish public that these are false accusations.

Cala denies it

I don't know what's going on," he said. "I don't know what he thinks he heard. Either he heard wrong or he's making it up. I just told him to leave me alone. I have no problem meeting him to explain. There is no racism in Spanish football, we all have five or six colored team-mates. But I'm being publicly lynched, I'm being threatened: it's all a circus," said the Spanish defender.

Juan Cala rejects all the accusations and rumors surrounding this intriguing affair. "It's not true that I offered to apologize so that Diakhaby could return to the match because I didn't do anything wrong. There is no proof. And I will sue the president of Valencia for defamation." he insists. But this charge was not to the liking of the Valencia management. The club's management therefore went to the mat to make a further accusation.

Valencia in support of their player

The club has once again attacked the Cadiz defender. "Valencia deeply regrets the statements made by the Cadiz player... Juan Cala lost an excellent opportunity to accept this mistake and apologise to the person concerned. Instead, he attacked the player himself and other members of Valencia. The club fully believes in its player and reiterates its full support for him," the club lamented in a statement.
