League 1 Mali: Djoliba AC opens season with win

Mali's Ligue 1 match day one was played last weekend. At the Mamadou Konaté stadium in Bamako on Sunday, Djoliba AC eased pass Onze Créateurs Niaréla (Bamako) 2-0. Striker Zoumana Simpara had a brace (62nd, 69th). Saturday, February 20, 2021, Club Olympique de Bamako (COB) gets first victory of the season (2-1) against AS Nianan de Koulikoro. In Bamako, AS Réal and USC Kita neutralized each other (0-0) and Lafia Club of Bamako (LCBA) beat AS Police by 4-2.

The national championship 2020-2021 will host 20 clubs in two pools of ten. ASOM, AS Douane, AS Réal, AS Police, CASS, CSD, LC.BA, Stade Malien, US Bougouni and USC Kita all potted in pool A. AS Bakaridjan, AS Black Stars, ASKO, Nianan, COB, Djoliba, Onze Créateurs, Sonni de Gao, USFAS and Yeelen Olympique are in group B.

The teams will compete against each other in round robin tournament and the first two in each pool will qualify for the Carré d'as. However, the last two will move down to the lower division next season.
