With 50 points, 17 rebounds, 4 blocks, 5 assists and 2 steals, Joel Embiid had one of the best NBA performances of all time last night against the defeated Bulls (112-105).
Sounds almost unbelievable yet its true. The Cameroonian pivot is phenomenal with the Sixers. He puts on extraordinary performances and leaves everyone speechless at every one of his outings. Last night against Chicago Bulls, Embiid became a little more of a legend. First by scoring 50 points, his career record. In fact, no Philadelphia player had reached that bar since the legendary Allen Iverson. But Joel Embiid didn't just punish the Bulls by scoring.
The pivot also massacred his opponents below the circle by taking 17 rebounds and countering them 5 times. A performance worthy of a Wilt Chamberlain, a terror of the court in the 60s and author of the most remarkable statistics in the NBA. In fact, since Chamberlain, no Sixers player had managed to score at least 50 points and 15 rebounds in the same game.
"I'm ready to dominate every moment."
More than ever, Joel Embiid is a favourite to succeed Giannis Antetokoumpo as MVP of the season. The Indomitable Lion is, indeed, hungry and shows it by crushing the stats feats and making the points. "The only difference between this year and last year is that I'm ready to dominate every moment on the floor, in defense and in attack," Embiid said after his huge match.
His teammates are in any case fascinated by the monster that the Cameroonian has become. "It's as if he's unstoppable. We're starting to think that maybe there's no answer for him. It's really hard to know because you don't have to try to stop it. We just try to feed the beast," said Matisse Thybulle. Tobias Harris, on the other hand, is already thinking of posterity because he knows that these achievements will be remembered. "One day I will tell my children that I played with Joel Embiid. When they ask me who was the best player, I played with, I will say Joel Embiid. It's an honor to be with him on the field," said the Cameroonian's teammate.
