2022 African Volleyball Club Championship: Nigeria Customs advance to Round of 16

Customs Service reach the next round

Nigeria Customs Service men's volleyball team have qualified for the next round of the ongoing 2022 African Men's Volleyball Club Championship in Kelibia, Tunisia.

Nigeria Customs Service will face Wolaitta Dicha Sports Club of Ethiopia in the Round of 16 on Friday by 2pm.

Despite losing to Gisagara VC on Wednesday, Nigeria Customs Service finished second position with five points winning one match and losing two matches.

Nigeria Customs Service scored a total of 270 points and conceded 260 points in three matches with a ratio of 1.011.

Abdulquadri Jaiyeola (Nigeria Customs Service) is the current best server of the tournament with 9 successful serves, second best scorer with 55 points and second best attacker with 43 points.

Former Ajman Sports club UAE player, Matthew Ejeh has the highest blocks at the club Championship with 9 successful blocks, third best scorer with 47 points and third best attacker with 36 points while the 2022 Nigeria Volleyball Super Cup Most Valuable Player, Sunny Akapson is the third best setter with 42 successful sets.

Coach of Nigeria Customs Service, Jonah Adamu said the team will work on its mistakes and focus on how to qualify for the quarterfinals.

He said: "We lost our last two matches narrowly to Port Douala and Gisagara Volleyball Club by 3-2 major scores; this means we have a lot of work to do.

"The team is optimistic it will mean the quarterfinals target and better the performance of last year's African Club Championship."

Nigeria Customs Service lost 2-3 (25-20, 16-25, 26-24, 17-25, 13-15) to Gisagara Volleyball Club of Rwanda in a keenly contested match on Wednesday.
