FIFA WC 2026: DR Congo to camp in Europe

Things are getting clearer for the Leopards of the DRC regarding their preparation for the 2026 World Cup. The Congolese  will, from the end of this month of May, spend a camp of about ten days in Europe before going to the United States. This camp will be punctuated by two friendly matches against Denmark on 3 June in Liège, Belgium and against Chile on 9 June in Marbella, Spain.

‎For several sports analysts, these matches are well timed because Denmark and Chile almost match the first two opponents of the DRC at the World Cup, namely Portugal and Colombia. «These are two good opponents chosen for test matches: Denmark is a bit like Portugal and Chile is a bit like Colombia. The DRC is not very used to playing friendly matches against opponents of such a rank, it will do good for the players.  they will really get into the competition before going to the United States," said Richard Kadima.

Not too many expected changes in the headcount

‎Unless there is a change, Sébastien Desabre must publish the list of 26 players selected for this 2026 World Cup within the range from May 11 to 14. There shouldn’t be many new names on this list, especially since the backbone of the team already exists; the one who has qualified, even though several players are now showing their desire to play for the DRC like Jorthy Mokio. Ajax’s midfielder has chosen the DRC over Belgium and he has made this known on his social networks.

‎The DRC’s return to the World Cup 52 years later is a highly anticipated event for the Congolese public, which scrutinizes all information about leopards. Housed in group K, the DRC will make its debut on 17 June in Houston against Portugal before facing Colombia on 24 June in Guadalajara then Uzbekistan on 28 June in Atlanta.
