The President of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa has congratulated Pitso Mosimane for guiding Al Ahly to lifting the CAF Super Cup.
Last Saturday Mosimane’s Egyptian side added more silverware to their big cupboard when they defeated RS Berkane in the final played in Doha, Qatar.
Two second half goals by Salah Mohsen and Mohamed Sherif were enough to ensure Al Ahly left the Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium in Doha, Qatar celebrating.
Al Ahly’s win over earned the South African and former Mamelodi Sundowns manager his fourth title with Al Ahly since joining the club six months ago.
“Pitso Mosimane is an outstanding flag-bearer for our country and for football,” said South African Ramaphosa on the president’s website.
The President said Mosimane’s outstanding performance and that of his club shows what is possible when talent moves freely around the African continent to unite people from diverse backgrounds and national origin.
Meanwhile, Mosimane has said they need to now focus on winning the remaining trophies in the season.
“We won the CAF Super Cup and now we move our focus on the other competitions and titles. We need to keep working hard because there are many matches to come and some players are also injured,” said Mosimane.
Al Ahly are at the semi-final stage of the CAF Champions League, and still battling in the Egyptian Premier League and also in the Egyptian Cup where they are among the last 16 teams.
