We now know the two representatives of Central Africa at the African Cup of Nations for the Under 17 category. They are Cameroon and Congo. Both nations qualified for the tournament scheduled to take place in Morocco from 13 to 31 March 2021, without playing.
The zonal tournament of Uniffac, qualifying for the U17 Afcon has been cancelled. The decision was taken by the Organizing Committee for Youth Competitions of CAF. It evokes among other reasons: the absence of a host country, the absence of an MRI machine in most of the countries of this zone to help detect age cheating prior to the competition among others. But top on the list of worries was the limited time to find a host country after the withdrawal of the countries initially proposed (Equatorial Guinea, Gabon and Cameroon).
The Commission also noted the difficulty of playing the qualifiers of this zone through two-way matches. It therefore decided to engage the two finalists of the last edition of the zonal qualifiers of Uniffac that is to say Cameroon, winner of that edition, and Congo, unfortunate finalist.
