UEFA CL: Wasteful Reds bow to Real as City make semis

Real Madrid and Manchester City will join Chelsea and Paris Saint Germain in the semi finals of this year's UEFA Champions League, after seeing off Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund respectively in the quarter final games played on Wednesday night.

A very wasteful Liverpool side on the night at Anfield will surely want to forget their performance against Real Madrid who came into the game with a 3-1 away advantage. As early as the second minute of the game Mo Salah came close up with Courtois but the striker splashed the ball into the keeper's out stretched left leg. Chance after chance missed through out the game for the Reds who needed a two goal margin to sail through. 15 attempts for Liverpool and just 4 on target summed up the night for Salah, Mane and Firmino. The trio lost their goal scoring touch and failed to deliver. A goalless draw means Real Madrid goes through 3-1 on aggregate.

City too strong for Dortmund

Manchester City beat Borussia Dortmund 2-1 in Germany to take a 4-2 aggregate score into the semi finals.

All looks good for the home side Dortmund as Jude Bellingham put his side ahead 15 minutes into the game. The Germans held the advantage into the break. Upon resumption Manchester City benefits from a penalty and Mahrez was up to standard burying from 12 yards 10 minutes into the second segment. The balance swayed City's way as Phil Foden got the match winner with a quarter to play. The win means Manchester City is in the last 4 of the Champions League for the second season running and will join Chelsea.

The semi final pairings are known already

On Tuesday April 27, the away leg games will line up as follows
