This is the current soap opera in Tunisian football. Louey Ben Farhat has surprised many people. While many players dream of playing in the World Cup, the young striker has missed this great opportunity. The reason; a refusal on his part to be included in Tunisia’s list, according to coach Sabri Lamouchi.

«I received a call from Louey Ben Farhat’s father this morning. He told me it was too early to select him and he refused. I was shocked. I called Louey, he didn’t answer. I called his father back, he didn’t answer either. It’s a lack of respect. This case is closed. If we have no respect for this jersey, for this flag, we do not deserve to play for Tunisia,"

said Lamouchi last Friday to the media to explain the absence of Ben Farhat. A real controversy for a young man who has just started with the Carthage Eagles. But who is really this 19-year-old gem?

Professional beginnings in Karlsruhe

Louey Ben Farhat, brilliant with Karlsruhe

Louey Ben Farhat is considered a real gem. Logically, he followed a linear progression, allowing him to make his professional debut there. On March 17, 2024, the Tunisian international was thrown into the deep end, entering the fray during the 7-0 victory over Magdeburg.

After some interesting professional matches, Ben Farhat signed his first professional contract in the summer of 2024:

"Signing my first professional contract is a huge source of motivation. I want to be a leader in the U19 for the next few months and surpass myself to justify the trust placed in me. My goal is to make my professional debut with KSC."

he said on his club’s official website.

During the 2024-2025 season, he gradually increased his power, becoming the starting forward around the second half of the season. A status he has kept since thanks to his good performances. This season, the Carthage Eagle carries offensively his team in the second German division.

In 20 games of the Bundesliga 2, Louey Ben Farhat, under contract until June 2029, is involved in 8 goals, 6 goals and 2 assists.

Tunisian U20 international since 2023, Louey Ben Farhat has thought carefully before joining the A team. After missing the 2025 AFCON due to injury, the 19-year-old striker made his debut with the Carthage Eagles in March 2026 against Haiti. He has two caps. He could have played more games with the Tunisian team in the coming weeks. But, the striker made the choice not to participate in the 2026 World Cup.
