All original articlesMamadou Sangaré is definitely on his way. After performing well with RC Lens last season, the Malian international midfielder is repeating his success in his new colors at Brentford. For his Premier League debut against Tottenham last Saturday at the Gtech Community, the player lit up the match with all his talent.
Winner of the Marc-Vivien Foé Award, which recognizes the best African player of the 2025/26 Ligue 1 season, Mamadou Sangaré has caught the eye of several clubs. In the end, it was Brentford who paid the sum of 48 million euros to secure his services on a contract running until June 2031 with an additional option year. From his very first official appearance, the 24-year-old Malian justified his transfer fee.
A high-level performance against the Spurs
Brentford kicked off the new season in explosive fashion by defeating Tottenham 3-0 at home. Mamadou Sangaré, the new signing, played a major role in this resounding victory. He provided the assist for the first goal, scored by Keane Lewis-Potter in the 12th minute following a fine move. That's not all. Beyond his assist, the Malian international was invaluable in midfield. He was present both defensively and offensively.
Logically named Man of the Match, the former Red Bull Salzburg player stole the show in every area. And the numbers back it up. Defensively, he registered two interceptions, 2 tackles, 7 balls recovered, one possession won in the final third, 60% of duels won—all on the ground.
