The last matches of the first leg quarter-finals of the Champions League were played this Wednesday at the Parc des Princes and the Camp Nou. At the end of the 90 minutes, PSG and Atletico Madrid took a slim option for qualification. The second leg remains open.

Achraf Hakimi and PSG bring down Liverpool

PSG remains and will remain a very serious candidate to win the Champions League this season. After the demonstration against Chelsea in the last 16, the Parisians confirmed their good form against Liverpool.

Achraf Hakimi and his teammates won 2-0 thanks to goals from Désiré Doué (11th) and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (65th). As usual, the Moroccan international right-back was very active on the right side. He accompanied several offensive actions and almost scored, giving an offering to Nuno Mendes but the Portuguese got his paintbrushes mixed up.

Mohamed Salah remained on the bench throughout the night. The return match will take place at Anfield Road on Tuesday, April 14 at 19:00 GMT.

Great performance by Lookman and Atletico Madrid at Camp Nou

Atletico Madrid have taken their revenge. A few days after losing to FC Barcelona at home in La Liga, the club from Madrid washed away the affront with a 2-0 victory.

At Camp Nou, Ademola Lookman and his partners did the job. Although the Nigerian international did not have enough influence on his team’s play and was replaced in the 61st minute, the Colchoneros were able to find the flaw. The other teammates on the offensive side took over. Facing Barça reduced to 10 since the red card of Pau Cubarsi in the 44th minute, Atletico Madrid has been very strong. The Madrid club won 2-0 and secured this advantage before returning to Riyadh Air Metropolitano next Tuesday at 19h GMT.
