A nationality or a team does not establish a residence. Older databases remain dated.
Background: Natural Earth · simplified boundaries · nearby cities grouped together · points placed at city centres, not at venue addresses.
Online tournaments and unknown cities remain in the list; they are not artificially placed on the map.

What the sources allow us to establish
Clear coverage.
Gaps made visible.
A country without a profile does not mean it has no esports scene. This atlas is a documented census, with coverage gaps between regions.
Understanding statuses and map markers
Documented edition: outcome, result or completed status found; the sources indicate the level of confirmation. Announced programme: published dates, without evidence that the event has already taken place. Past, occurrence to be confirmed: the date has passed but the corpus provides no outcome. Forecast: announced project or month, days unknown.
The points are rounded city centres. A venue's name may be verified without its exact coordinates being so. In players mode, public bases and their date are kept separate from the country represented. An old base is not a confirmed current residence.
Events straddling 1 January 2026 are included if part of the programme takes place within the window. Their original dates are preserved.
Multi-game events are a single record; the Phygital Rivals strands are identified as strands of the same event. A participation, a club headquarters and a nationality do not constitute a residential address.
