AFCON 2025 - Algeria vs DRC: Supporters dwell ahead of clash
The excitement is very great around the match between the DRC and Algeria, counting for the eighth finals of the AFCON 2025. Before the kick-off scheduled for this Tuesday (16h GMT), the match of the supporters began both in the streets and on social networks.

This is undoubtedly the most anticipated match of the eighth finals of the competition. DRC - Algeria, a clash staged for this Tuesday in Rabat (16h GMT) between two major African nations with audiences among the most vibrant in Africa and which have already launched hostilities before the kick-off.
The two countries have several of their nationals present in Morocco for the AFCON and each swears by the victory of their team. Oscar, a Congolese met in Rabat, is confident for a qualification from the DRC.
«We have already played the great African nations like Cameroon, Nigeria, and Senegal. Against Algeria, it will only be the confirmation of our team’s progress, Algeria does not scare us,"
says the Congolese.
On his part, Riyadh, an Algerian supporter, thinks that the Fennecs will confirm their supremacy over the Leopards.
«The DRC has never beaten Algeria and it will not happen on Tuesday. Algeria is in great shape, you just need to see the group stage of Algeria to understand that the DRC does not measure up,"
he says.
Influencers get involved
Far from the Moroccan streets, the debates are heated also on social networks where influencers put on a show, notably on Tiktok with amusing word games. The Algerian influencer Mohamed Henni lit the fuse by declaring that the Congolese will be frozen.
"We must stop with the legend of the Congo. Great respect to the Congolese, but what we are going to do to them is not freeze them. We will cool them,"
he said.
The Congolese response did not take time to surface, the influencer Herman Amisi, one of the most followed in this competition, retorted by saying that "the allergy" to say Algeria, will be treated "Great respect to the Algerians but on the 6th we will treat them, because in front of us, we do not see Algeria, we see the allergy," he declared.
Moroccans lean towards the DRC
In addition to the support of their own peoples, the two countries also share the support of their hosts, the Moroccans. But the balance tilts more among the Congolese, very supported by the Moroccans.
Indeed, the majority of the Moroccans encountered want to see the Leopards eliminate the Fennecs like Walid.
“Congo must eliminate Algeria. I can still accept that Morocco loses the title but never that Algeria comes to win it in Moroccan land,"
he confides.
