The Paul Pogba affair is far from over. After his unlawful confinement in March 2022, the 2018 world champion took the matter to court. It then emerged that his brother, Mathias Pogba, was involved in the case, in which his captors demanded a sum of 13 million euros from him. On Tuesday 02 April, Agence France Presse added fresh fuel to the story. The AFP revealed what went on behind the scenes of Mathias Pogba's questioning by investigators on 25 January 2024. And having publicly lambasted his younger brother, the eldest of the siblings gave a completely different version of events. He insisted he had been manipulated.
"I was sent from pillar to post, I was lied to from the start", Mathias Pogba told investigators, reportedly moved to tears. Elsewhere, the former Guinea international (05 caps) had words for his brother. "I hope to see him again as soon as possible. (…) It will take as long as it takes, but I hope our bond can be rebuilt."
Mathias Pogba also went back over the videos he posted on social media. In them, he directly attacked the Juventus midfielder, accusing him of ingratitude and of having abandoned them. According to him, it was all just staged. "I wanted to let the anger out" but "at no point to put pressure on him." It should be noted that in this ongoing case, the two main suspects, Adama C (a childhood friend of the player) and Mamadou M, are close to the Pogba family.
