DR Congo, Cape Verde, Senegal, Ivory Coast, Tunisia…
It's the home straight. There are still 15 places up for grabs at the great festival of African basketball. Several nations need just one win to join Afrobasket 2025. Group A leaders DR Congo will book their place with a win over Mali this Friday. The Congolese could even get through with a defeat if, later in the evening, South Sudan (2nd) beat Morocco. The South Sudanese will also qualify if they win.
Cape Verde (Group B) are also one step away from qualifying. To do so, the Blue Sharks must beat Uganda or, if they lose, hope that Libya beat Nigeria. In that scenario, Cape Verde and Libya, 1st and 2nd respectively in Group B, would both qualify. Senegal (1st in Group C), who shone in the 2nd window of qualifying for this Afrobasket 2025, are also well placed and need just a win this Friday against Rwanda. The Lions can also afford a defeat if Cameroon beat Gabon. Ivory Coast (Group D) will also secure their ticket with a win over Madagascar today. Finally, in Group E, Tunisia will qualify with a win against Kenya.
For the other teams still in the running, their chances of qualifying for Afrobasket 2025 will depend on the 5th and 6th rounds of games, to be played on Saturday and Sunday.
