Hassane Bandé's quiet wish has been granted. Amiens parted company with head coach Philippe Hinschberger on 03 April. The club wanted to provide a shock to the system, with the Picards having won only two games in 2023 up to that point. With Hinschberger gone, Patrice Descamps, the club's academy director, has taken over. He also won his first match, last weekend, against Nîmes (1-0) in Ligue 2. Hassane Bandé played in that game. The Burkinabè is delighted with the change of coach.

"You could feel the team didn't really trust me, I wasn't getting much playing time and it was hard to express myself. I should be getting more, I work hard in training for that. I'm ready to help the team. When you haven't played for a while and you have to make do with cameos of five or ten minutes, it's hard to get back to your level. It was clear I deserved to play but there was no competition. I don't know why, but the coach had made his choice. In any case, I was always there for the team and for him when he needed me […] The win against Nîmes (1-0) also shows that something has changed", Hassane Bandé admits, speaking to Le 11 Amiénois.

A disappointing season

Having arrived from Ajax last summer, Hassane Bandé raised plenty of expectations among Amiens officials and fans. But in the end, he has endured major difficulties. Since the start of the season, the Burkina Faso international (23 caps, 2 goals) has made only one start. That was on 02 September 2022, in matchday 7 of Ligue 2. In terms of output, the 24-year-old left-footer has just one goal, scored against Pau on 05 November 2022. He has made 16 substitute appearances this season.

In serious difficulty, Hassane Bandé was even left out for several weeks. Between 10 January and 18 February 2023, Philippe Hinschberger simply decided not to include him in the squad. He therefore spent six Ligue 2 matches in a row watching on television. That explains his delight at seeing a change in the dugout. Introduced as a substitute last weekend (16 minutes played), he will also have to work hard to prove he can be useful to the club in the closing stretch of the season. Perhaps, who knows, to be part of the rebuilding next season.
