Azzedine Ounahi impressed football fans at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. While Morocco made history by finishing fourth in the competition, the Angers midfielder emerged alongside Hakim Ziyech, Sofyan Amrabat and Achraf Hakimi as one of the Atlas Lions' key men. Valuable in build-up play, technically assured, and with a huge work rate, he never hesitated to get forward whenever the chance arose, and Ounahi was the man who dictated Morocco's play.

His strong performances were quick to attract Europe's big guns. Little known before the World Cup, his departure from Angers this winter even looks inevitable. According to L'Equipe, the Atlas Lions midfielder wants his career to move up to another level. The French outlet also reports that his club will not stand in the way of a transfer, a year and a half after the Moroccan arrived in Anjou.

€45 million

A situation that could benefit Leicester, who have set their sights on the 22-year-old. Smitten with the Atlas Lion, the Foxes' decision-makers are ready to spend big to secure his services. According to the same source, they are prepared to put a €45 million package on the table to sign the Moroccan gem. It is a sum that would be hard for SCO Angers to turn down, though they want to sell their midfielder but keep him on loan until the end of the season.

However, Leicester are not short of rivals in this pursuit. Indeed, Mundo Deportivo reports that Sevilla FC and FC Barcelona are also interested, on the other side of the Pyrenees. It remains to be seen what the 2022 World Cup's great revelation will choose.
