BAL 2023: Solo Diabaté and Petro into the play-offs

Ahead of their 5th group-stage outing against Al Ahly, Solo Diabaté and Petro de Luanda are already assured of a place in the BAL play-offs, which will be held in Kigali. After four wins from four games, the Angolan side are the clear favourites in the race for the title. For the Ivory Coast international, the aim is to get past the quarter-finals and reach his 3rd semi-final in 3 editions of the BAL, before thinking about the ultimate prize. A two-time winner of the competition with Zamalek and US Monastir, Solo Diabaté has big ambitions of completing a hat-trick of titles by winning with Petro de Luanda. Before that, though, there is a tough battle ahead. "My goal is to win a 3rd BAL trophy. I want to go down in the history of this competition," said the African runner-up shortly after signing for the Angolan club.
