One win for each club. Clarisse Bilgo, of AS Bessel, and Soumaïla Ilboudo, of AJCK, won the two elite races at the Grand Prix Excellence Hôtel, held on Sunday 18 October in Ouagadougou. The event offered a chance to race competitively ahead of the Tour du Faso.

Bilgo beats Ouédraogo and Kabré

In the women's race, Clarisse Bilgo finished ahead of Ella Ouédraogo, of Zambelogo, and Justine Kabré, of USFA. The race was run over 30.6 kilometres, with the winner clocking 57 minutes 18 seconds. The victory gives AS Bessel first place in the women's race, in an event that also featured Lamoussa Zoungrana and Awa Bamogo.

Ilboudo makes the difference in the sprint

In the men's race, Soumaïla Ilboudo beat Souleymane Koné, of AS Bessel. Saturnin Yaméogo, another AJCK rider, completes the podium, meaning the club has two riders in the top three. Moucaila Rawendé, of AS Bessel, and Rachid Bouda, of USFA, finished fourth and fifth respectively.

The winner covered the 117.3 kilometres in 2 hours 48 minutes 20 seconds. For AJCK and AS Bessel alike, the race comes during the Étalons cyclistes' preparations for the Tour du Faso. It provides a competitive benchmark, without pointing to the outcome of a race run over several stages.
