New York had to come from a long way back to make it two in a row. Trailing by nineteen points in the second half, the Knicks beat Chicago 133–127 on Wednesday 28 October at the United Center. Jalen Brunson scored 38 points and handed out seven assists, with decisive support from the reserves in the final quarter.
After New York edged the first quarter 34–33, the Bulls took control. A Tre Jones shot at the buzzer at the end of the first half gave them a 62–56 lead. Norman Powell kept their attack humming and finished with 30 points, making ten of fifteen shots.
Chicago pull clear, Knicks fight back
The gap grew to nineteen points in the third quarter. The Knicks limited the damage before the end of the period, though, finishing it behind 96–90. The game remained open, despite an evening complicated by trips to the locker room for Karl-Anthony Towns and Landry Shamet, who both returned later.
New York scored 43 points in the final twelve minutes. Jordan Clarkson provided a lift with 18 points in all, making seven of eleven shots. Shamet added 14 points and five assists, including four three-pointers, while Tyler Kolek handed out nine assists without a turnover.
Brunson and Anunoby shut the door
A 10–2 run let the visitors take control in the fourth quarter. Chicago still got back to 130–127 with 46 seconds left. Powell missed a long-range attempt late on, and free throws from Brunson and OG Anunoby sealed the result.
Anunoby finished with 23 points and six rebounds. Towns added 19 points, 13 rebounds and five assists. For Chicago, Caleb Wilson scored 20 points, Matas Buzelis 17 and Jalen Smith 17, with 11 rebounds. The Bulls' eighteen three-pointers were not enough against the Knicks' twenty-two.
New York, now 2–3, pick up a second straight win. Chicago fall to 1–4. On Friday, the Knicks travel to Philadelphia and the Bulls to Boston.
