Bees are led by a queen, but at Brentford there is a king named Bryan Mbeumo. With Ivan Toney suspended for illegal betting, the LeBron James lookalike is providing the entertainment.
On Saturday 21 October, the Cameroonian again proved he is indispensable. The forward first scored, then set up a goal in the 3-0 win for the Bees (Editor's note: "abeilles" is French for bees) over Burnley. In 9 league games, Bryan Mbeumo already has 5 goals in the Premier League. Last season, the 24-year-old scored "only" 9. Brentford fans can therefore expect him to surpass that tally before the end of the current campaign.

Night and day with Cameroon
There is one caveat for Bryan Mbeumo, though. Between Brentford and Cameroon, it is Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde. In 11 caps for the Indomitable Lions, he has only 2 goals. Both came against Mexico in a friendly (2-2, on 11 June) and against Burundi in 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying (3-0 on 12 September). During the October international camp, several fans also vented their anger at him on social media.
Be that as it may, Bryan Mbeumo is enjoying himself at Brentford. The Bees will need him again on Saturday 28 October for the trip to Chelsea, who are gradually getting back to their best.
