On the sidelines of her official mission in Banfora, the Minister of Sports, Youth and Employment, Annick Pikbougoum, made a much anticipated field visit to the construction site of the 15,000-seat Stade de Léguéma, in the Guiriko region.
This outing is one of the first concrete contacts of the minister, appointed on January 12, 2026, with the realities of national sports infrastructures. Accompanied by local sports players, the secretary general of the region representing the governor, and project managers, Annick Pikbougoum toured the entire site to assess the progress of work.
According to the Turkish company Integral Group, in charge of construction, the overall execution rate now reaches 75%. The stands, the playground, the technical spaces, the metal structures, the concrete works and the prefabricated benches are progressing according to schedule. The stadium, designed according to CAF and FIFA standards (category 3), will include a roof covering all the stands, a synthetic lawn and various modern equipment.
The project director, Selim Kizilaslan, assured the delegation:
"We are confident. There are no more particular difficulties as in the past. The work is progressing well and we are respecting the schedule''.
He reaffirmed the company’s commitment to deliver quality work on time.

On her part, Minister Annick Pikbougoum was very satisfied with the progress observed. “They are really confident and assured us that the stadium will be delivered in a timely manner. I express my satisfaction,"
she said at the end of the visit. She called on all actors to maintain serenity, prioritize quality and scrupulously respect the deadlines.
The delivery of this major infrastructure is scheduled for the end of April 2026. This modern stadium, supported by the presidential initiative in favor of youth and sport, will greatly enhance the development of football, athletics, and talent training in Burkina Faso’s second largest city and beyond. It is part of a broader drive to modernize national sports facilities, with several other stadium and academy projects announced in the coming years.
This visit illustrates the government’s desire to closely monitor strategic projects and ensure their rapid completion for the benefit of Burkinabe youth.
