A mix of rising prospects and established players, several footballers of Cameroonian descent based in Europe are impressing with their performances without yet having pulled on the Indomitable Lions shirt. Some, such as Danny Namaso, have recently made the switch, while others are still waiting for a call-up. Here is a round-up.

Danny Namaso (FC Porto - Portugal)

After several unsuccessful attempts, the Cameroonian Football Federation (Fécafoot) officially announced on 28 January 2025 that Danny Namaso, a former England international at youth levels from U16 to U20, is now eligible to represent the Indomitable Lions. The FIFA decision allows the FC Porto forward to bolster Cameroon's attack. Aged 24, Namaso is playing in the Liga Portugal this season, where he has 3 goals in 19 games. His pace, technique and eye for goal make him a clear asset for the Cameroon national team.

Lucien Agoumé (Sevilla - Spain)

Born on 9 February 2002 in Yaoundé, Lucien Agoumé is a 23-year-old defensive midfielder playing for Sevilla FC in Spain. He came through at FC Sochaux-Montbéliard in 2018, moved to Inter Milan 5 years later, and then joined the Andalusian club. Known for his vision and passing quality, Agoumé has made 22 La Liga appearances for Sevilla, 13 of them starts. Despite a few notable errors, his potential remains undeniable, and he is regularly called up to the France U21 side.

Yann Aurel Bisseck (Inter Milan - Italy)

Cameroonian football officials have eyes only for him. Yann Aurel Bisseck, born on 29 November 2000 in Cologne, is a centre-back at Inter Milan. Developed at FC Köln, he became the second-youngest player to make a Bundesliga debut in 2017, at just 16. After spells in Portugal and Denmark, Bisseck joined Inter Milan in July 2023, signing a contract running until 2028. Solid defensively and good at building play from the back, Bisseck (15 appearances and 1 goal in Serie A this season) has already been approached by Cameroon. But the 24-year-old youngster is still hesitating, with his heart leaning towards Germany.

Éric Dina Ebimbe (Eintracht Frankfurt - Germany)

A versatile 24-year-old midfielder, Éric Dina Ebimbe came through at Paris Saint-Germain before joining Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga. Repeatedly linked with Cameroon, the player, who has also been at Le Havre, Dijon and Paris Saint-Germain, is dragging his feet. Yet his versatility and solidity could be enough to make him an undisputed starter in the Indomitable Lions' den. However, over time, the interest he generates in Cameroon could fade. A German Cup runner-up in 2023, Ebimbe has played only 6 games this season in the Bundesliga.

Gerzino Nyamsi (Lokomotiv Moscow - Russia)

A product of Stade Rennais, Gerzino Nyamsi is a centre-back currently playing for Lokomotiv Moscow in Russia. This season, the 27-year-old rock has played 18 league games and scored 4 goals, which shows his threat from set pieces. Nyamsi is known for his defensive solidity, aerial ability and sense of anticipation, valuable qualities for strengthening a defence like Cameroon's, where players such as Michaël Ngadeu seem to be heading towards retirement.

Wilitty Younoussa (Rodez, Ligue 2 - France)

A 22-year-old defensive midfielder, Wilitty Younoussa proudly wears the colours of Rodez in French Ligue 2. Trained at Dijon's youth academy, he has steadily worked his way up to become a key part of the Rodez set-up. This season, he has played 24 games (1 goal), standing out for his excellent ability to win the ball back and to build play cleanly, with a certain passing accuracy. Younoussa excels at interceptions and distribution, two valuable qualities for a defensive midfielder. His work rate and tactical intelligence make him an interesting profile for Cameroon, who often lack depth in midfield.

Valentin Atangana (Stade de Reims, Ligue 1 - France)

Valentin Atangana

A 20-year-old left-back, Valentin Atangana plays for Stade de Reims, where he is regarded as one of the most promising young talents of his generation. Developed at Reims, he made his first-team debut in Ligue 1 this season, producing encouraging performances despite his young age. Solid defensively and able to pose a threat going forward thanks to his pace and crossing quality, Atangana is a modern full-back who likes to get down the flanks and support attacks. With an average of 2.5 interceptions and 1.8 successful tackles per game, he is already showing real maturity in his play.

Mahamadou Nagida (Stade Rennais, Ligue 1 - France)

Mahamadou Nagida is a 19-year-old attacking midfielder, who can also play as a full-back or wing-back, at Stade Rennais. A raw talent developed in the Brittany club's academy, he is starting to establish himself in the professional squad after shining with the U19s and the reserves. This season, he has already been called up several times to the first team and has made a few appearances in Ligue 1. His technical quality, sharpness and dribbling ability allow him to make a difference in tight spaces. Able to play as a playmaker or on the wings, Nagida is a modern-style player who could be an interesting option to energise Cameroon's attack in the years to come.
