A goalless draw is enough to send South Sudan through
South Sudan will be among the sides contesting the group stage of AFCON 2025. The South Sudanese got the job done by holding São Tomé and Príncipe to a 0-0 draw. The share of the spoils in the first leg (1-1) on their opponents' ground, with an away goal scored, gave the South Sudanese the edge.
Chad book their place
The picture is becoming a little clearer as to which sides will join the group stage of the upcoming AFCON 2025 qualifiers. Chad secured their place on 26 March. The Sao pulled off a fine result by beating Mauritius on their own pitch (1-2). It was a second successive win over the same opponents, after a narrow (1-0) victory at home. Even so, the Mauritians had taken the lead through Jean Villeneuve (42+2). The Chadians came back with goals from Charles Tchouplaou (74th) and Ousmane Hissein Hassan (90+10).
Liberia are through
Liberia have secured qualification for the group stage of AFCON 2025. A goalless draw (0-0) in the preliminary round against Djibouti, on Tuesday 26 March, was enough to progress after the first-leg win (0-2). Mission accomplished for Liberia!
Eswatini progress without any trouble
After their impressive 3-0 win in the first leg against Somalia, Eswatini had one foot, and four toes, in the group stage of AFCON 2025. They finished the job at home on Tuesday 26 March. The Sihlangu Semnikati (The Shield of the King) sealed their place after a 2-2 draw. Sabelo Ndzinisa (46th) and Bongwa Matsebula (49th) scored for the Eswatinians, while Mohammed Awad (76th) and Yusuf Ahmed (84th) were the Somali scorers.
