Defending champions South Africa will continue their title defence in the knockout stage of Women's AFCON 2024. Already through to the quarter-finals (1st, 4 points), Desiree Ellis's players now have another objective: finishing top of Group C. To do so, they need at least a draw against Mali, who are 2nd on the same number of points.
Mali are also targeting top spot in Group C. The group winners at Women's AFCON will face the third-placed side from Group A, which should, on paper, offer a more manageable fixture.

Ghana and Tanzania must win
In the day's other match, Ghana and Tanzania will meet. The stakes are simple: the winners will reach the quarter-finals of Women's AFCON 2024, as they will be at least among the best third-placed teams.
A draw, however, would allow Botswana, 3rd in Group B (3 points), to qualify for the quarter-finals. There is therefore no room for calculation: only victory matters for Ghana and Tanzania. Both matches are scheduled for 19:00 GMT.
