With 9 titles, Nigeria hold the record for Women's AFCON wins. However, the Super Falcons had a poor tournament at the last edition, finishing 4th, having previously won three in a row (2014, 2016 and 2018). Determined to regain their status, the Nigerians made a good start to this tournament with a 3-0 win over Tunisia. On this 2nd matchday, the aim is to beat Botswana to secure a place in the quarter-finals.

Above all, it would send out a strong message to their rivals at the 2024 Women's AFCON: the Super Falcons want to take back their title. Botswana, in contrast, must respond. After a defeat against Algeria (0-1), another slip-up would almost certainly mean elimination for the Botswana side.

Algeria one step away from qualification

In their 7th appearance at the Women's AFCON, Algeria want to at least equal their best finish, 3rd place in 2011. To do that, they must first get past Tunisia and secure a quarter-final place to allow themselves to dream.

Back at the AFCON for the first time since 2008 (their only previous appearance), Tunisia are in a difficult position. The Tunisians lost 0-3 to Nigeria in their opener. Another poor performance against Algeria and they would almost be out.
