Cameroon, the defending champions, have been knocked out of U17 AFCON. The Indomitable Lion Cubs lost (2-1) to Burkina Faso in their final group C match on Sunday 7 May. In a tight contest, Cameroon had to wait until the 61st minute to open the scoring. They might have thought they had taken a significant step towards qualification, but Burkina Faso drew level 15 minutes later.
The Cameroonians were undone in two minutes by Souleymane Olio, who scored twice (76th and 78th). Serge Mimpo-Tsintsémé's side could not find an equaliser. In a group of 3 following South Sudan's exclusion, with Mali already through, both teams had needed only a draw to reach the next round.
Cameroon bow out with a whimper, leaving Burkina Faso to progress to the quarter-finals. The 2011 champions join Senegal, Mali, Algeria, Morocco, Nigeria, South Africa and Congo.
