Burkina Faso through, Cameroon in trouble, Egypt eliminated
A perfect start to the tournament for Burkina Faso. After beating Cameroon, the Burkinabe side followed up against Egypt. The U17 Stallions beat the Pharaohs of Egypt 2-1 thanks to another goal from Ashraf Loukman. They lead Group B with 6 points and have already booked their place in the quarter-finals.
Cameroon are now in a tough spot. They have just one point from two games. On Thursday at the Stade El Arbi Zaouli, the Cameroonian youngsters dominated but could not find a way through against South Africa. The final score was 0-0.
After two rounds of games in Group B, Burkina Faso are 1st with 6 points, South Africa are 2nd with 4 points and Cameroon are 3rd with 1 point. Egypt, 4th with 0 points, are already eliminated.
Uganda back in the hunt, Morocco held by Zambia
Qualification for the quarter-finals in Group A will now be decided between 3 teams. After a second successive defeat, Tanzania have 0 points and are already out at the group stage. The young Tanzanians could not hold out against Uganda in Mohammedia on Thursday, losing 3-0. The Ugandans are back in contention and will play for qualification in the final round of games against Zambia next Sunday at 19h GMT.
Morocco must wait a little longer before sealing their place in the next round. The Atlas Lion Cubs were held by a good Zambian side in Mohammedia. There were no goals after 90 minutes. The final score was 0-0. Everything is therefore still to play for in Group A going into matchday 3.
