The Lycée Classique d’Abidjan was the venue for the symbolic handover of 200 footballs to 10 schools on Tuesday 23 May. Each school received 20 balls from Ivorian Football Federation president Idriss Diallo, in the presence of the Minister of National Education and Literacy, Mrs Mariatou Koné.
The donation is part of the African school championships scheduled for the coming weeks. To that end, the Confederation of African Football has given 27,700 balls to schools in the participating countries. "Be ambitious and live your dreams. In life, there is no secret, it comes down to hard work," Idiss Diallo told pupils at the Lycée Classique in his address, adding that they cannot play football without a minimum of schooling and that it is essential for children to play football and go to school at the same time.
