The 2023 African U18 and U20 Athletics Championships will take place from 29 April to 3 May in Ndola, Zambia. Five Éléphanteaux have been selected to compete. They are Tonohouan Ange, Groguhé Sarah, Vehi Marie Emmanuella, Djehi Lou Chantal and Kla Dawa Ella. The young women will compete in three categories: long jump, 100m and 200m, and the medley relay.
The five athletes come in part from the regional training centres. Tonohouan comes from Athlétic Club Sérikpa, Groguhé and Vehi from the Abidjan regional athletics centre, Djehi Lou from the Daloa regional athletics centre and Klah from the San Pedro regional athletics centre.
At their last appearance at the championships for these same age groups, in Abidjan in 2019, Côte d'Ivoire came away with three medals: one silver through Diasso Armand in the javelin, and two bronzes in the relay, in the boys' and girls' events.
