Hakim Ziyech was due to join the band of players leaving the European leagues for Saudi Arabia. But when it isn't meant to be, it isn't meant to be. The Chelsea player failed his medical. He will not sign for Al Nassr, the club where Cristiano Ronaldo plays. The reason for the hitch: Al Nassr's doctors detected problems with the Moroccan's knee. That brought talks with the Blues to an end.

And yet everything had been tied up between the two clubs. Al Nassr had indeed agreed a deal with Chelsea. At the same time, the Saudi club had agreed terms with Hakim Ziyech on a salary of between 12 and 13 million euros a year. Another blow for the former Ajax man.

Failed move to PSG

Because yes, this is not the first time this year that Hakim Ziyech has seen his departure from Chelsea fall through at the last minute. In January, the left-footed player was on the verge of joining Paris Saint-Germain on the final day of the winter transfer window. Sadly, the Paris club had also spotted... a problem with his knee. On top of that, to make matters worse, administrative problems hampered his transfer. Chelsea reportedly sent incomplete documents. Whatever the case, he went back to London to relive his nightmare on a daily basis.

On the pitch, Hakim Ziyech has also had a dreadful year. In all competitions, he has started only 9 of 24 games played. He has provided 3 assists and has not scored a goal. His only bright spot has been Morocco's run to the semi-finals at the 2022 World Cup. Now, it remains to be seen what the 30-year-old will do this summer. He still has two years left on his Chelsea contract.
