TECO FC barely had time to enjoy their Ivorian women's D2 title. The blue-and-white club had won the championship by beating ASEC Mimosas in the final. But the celebrations will be short-lived. ASEC lodged an appeal with the commission of the Ivorian football federation. The reason? Their opponents allegedly failed to comply with the rule limiting the number of foreign players on the pitch. TECO FC reportedly fielded more than 3 foreign players in the final.
And Mimosas won their case. TECO FC have been stripped of the title, and ASEC are now declared champions of the Ivorian D2. "The Appeals Commission of the Ivorian Football Federation has awarded the match as a defeat to TECO FC for a breach of the regulations of the women's 2nd division in the final of the competition against our club, 1/3", reads the statement from ASEC Mimosas.
First season, first title🏆.

TECO FC should therefore hand back the trophy and the champions' prize envelope, which they received from FIF president Idriss Diallo. Like ASEC, TECO FC will play in the Ivorian top flight next season. ASEC Mimosas, meanwhile, were returning to women's competition after a 31-year absence. They thus win their very first title.
