CAF announced on 19 May 2023 that ASEC Mimosas would receive an amount written in the source as “750.000 dollars” (the separator is ambiguous and is preserved here), equivalent to 350 million FCFA, for reaching the Confederation Cup semi-finals. The Mimosas were knocked out at that stage by Algerian club USM Alger (0-0 in the first leg, 2-0 in the second) at the 5 July Stadium. The winners of the competition will receive 2 million dollars, equivalent to 1 billion 900 million FCFA according to the source. It will be a landmark occasion for either USMA or Tanzania's Young Africans. Enough to leave all the losing sides with regrets.
