Senegal won no medal on Monday, and their heaviest score came in futsal. Opening their futsal tournament against Argentina at 17:30 GMT, the boys were soon overrun: Enzo Lopez and Thomás Barrios each scored twice to make it 4-0, Wiwsport reported. Saliou Camara pulled one back before the break and Mamadou Diagne added the second Senegal goal.
The contrast with the girls is plain. They beat Fiji 8-1 the day before. The boys try again on Wednesday at 17:30 GMT against Panama, who lost 5-0 to Afghanistan.
Out in straight sets
Both Senegalese beach volleyball pairs went out in the last 16 without winning a set. Nafi Segnane and Aminata Tine lost 2-0 to Mexico; Sidibé and Cissé lost 2-0 to Chile. There will be no home quarter-final.
Rugby ends on a win
A win did come at Stade Iba-Mar-Diop. After a 19-5 defeat by Japan, the boys beat Uganda 10-5 to finish seventh. The girls lost 32-0 to Australia and 19-0 to Kenya.
Three chances on Tuesday
The schedule offers a quick response: women's rugby against China at 09:40 GMT, the baseball5 seventh-place game against Syria at 10:30, then women's futsal against Venezuela at 17:30, after Sunday's 8-1. Fixtures are on our Dakar 2026 page.
